Note from Susie: Another descendant placed the metal marker at Mt Pleasant for Robert John Self (R. J. Self) but I have sharecropping agreements R. J. Signed mid-1870s from Carroll County, Miss., courthouse record books; this proves to some of us that R. J., the Civil War veteran who signed his parole after the fall of Vicksburg then went on to fight again and be captured in Georgia later, was still alive around 10 years after the 1865 date on the memorial. U. B. or Uriah Berry Self, was one of R. J.'s sons, and so was "Edd" or John Edmond from County Line Cemetery.
