The Veal surname joins the Self family in 1881. On August 24, 1881, Nancy Olive Self (1864 - 1901), daughter of Job Marion and Eliza (Ash) Self, who lived in Union and Lumpkin Counties, GA., Monroe County, TN., and Saline County, AR., married Andrew ("Andy") Veal (1862 - 1955), son of James Nathaniel and Caroline Matilda (Rodgers) Veal. They had 4 children: Silas C. (b. 1886), Fannie C. (b. 1890), John M. (b. May 1895 in Sherman, Grayson County, TX), and Laura (b. 1898)

On October 17, 1881, Nancy's sister, Sylvania A. Self (1861 -     ), married Daniel Moses Veal (1861 -     ), son of Daniel Moses and Lucinda Veal. Their children were: Charles (b. Apr. 6, 1882), Ruthie E. (b. Feb. 24, 1884), Lucy (b. Nov. 1, 1887), Sallie M. (b. Sep. 1889), Nancy E. (b. Dec. 1891), Mollie (b. Feb. 1896), Johnnie (b. Nov. 1898), and Henry (d. Sep. 16, 1974)

As an aside, Hayden Marion Self (1868 - 1898), was the brother of Nancy and Sylvania. He m. Fannie Mae Esther Stainer and lived in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. There were other children in Job's family--Fanny E. (b. 1854), Sarah Jane (b. 1856), Martha (b. 1859), and Ruth (b. 1863). Any information on these four daughters will be appreciated.

Cousin Barry was fortunate enough to acquire some photographs from the collection of the late Cora (Tallent) Veal, widow of Henry Veal (paragraph 2 above). Most unfortunately, the majority of photographs have no identification. We would appreciate help from anyone familiar with the Veal family. In any case, the photos are very interesting and make a wonderful online album!
