Peritonitis

Natick

Whole number of deaths returned and registered for the year; Males, 70; Females, 65; Total, 135. Twelve more than in 1876. Sixteen of who left wives, and fifteen left husbands, to follow after; while ninety died who had never been married; and six males and eight females who had buried their companions and now follow them (their companions) on the homeward journey. Thirty-nine or twenty-nine per cent happened to children before they attained their first anniversary birthday, being an increase of .04 per cent, over 1876, in this class of deaths. Thirteen attained and lived beyond the time allotted to man--the oldest of whom was Miss Nancy Loker, aged ninety years. It would seem that consumption has found a formidable rival for victims in the diseases know as pneumonia and diptheria.
