Report of Town Clerk

Permit me through your board to present to the inhabitants of our Town the following report ending with December 31, 1876.

REPORT

In making up this report I have substantially followed the plan adopted in my late reports. This plan furnishes opportunities to all interested for the correction or errors in names, dates, or anything herein incorrectly stated. It is hoped that every one interested in having a complete and perfectly reliable record, will carefully examine the statements herein contained so far as they are personally known to them, and if mistakes have been made, as undoubtedly there has,, bring them to the attention of the Town Clerk for correction. Since my last report I have had the names of seven children, born in 1875, handed me for registration having been overlooked in making the canvass of the town.

It is very probable that the same thing has happened in the late canvass.. If every one immediately interested will look for himself or herself and report all known mistakes and ommissions in the record whether in births, marriages or deaths, they will greatly oblige the writer of this report and confer a favor the public generally.

The births have increased from 211 in 1875 to 258 in 1876, or about 22 per cent.
