I believe that unless legal documents prove otherwise then we must accept and abide by registries such as Births Death and Marriages. If this is not the case then many errors are perpetuated.
Several unrelated Parnells from different backgrounds arrived
in Australia in the early days of the colony. They included complete families,
as an example, Thomas and Harriett arrived 1857 "John Bunyan" with their
children Mary and James. Harriett died the year they arrived - Thomas married Elizabeth Cox ( Cof ) 1860 the family settled in northern NSW.
Some were singe male and female assisted and unassisted passengers. At least
six others were convicts, Daniel Charles 1799 "Hillsbrough". Daniel 1816
"Isabella". John 1818 "Marina". John 1835 "Hive". John
"Lady McNaughton". Thomas Parnell alias Williams."Ganges".
Others were from wealthy and famous backgrounds, including the pastoral
Parnell families of Queensland. Some confusion has arisen which appear to have
come from the fact that Donald Inglis Parnell of this Queensland Family was from
"Elderslie" near Mackay, QLD. and Matthew James Parnell died at "Elderslie" NSW.
Also both families have been incorrectly associated, as there were two separate
properties named "The Pinnacle".
The names shown in red have been submitted to me. They are names I have not been able to delete, or confirm.
My Griffiths' chart also differs from some others that have been kindly presented to me for comparison.
