NOTES

The four TOLLIT brothers - John, William, George and Joseph - ran stagecoaches along such routes as Uxbridge to London, and from Oxford to London. Various histories of the stagecoach and of Uxbridge mention the brothers, and a picture of one of their stagecoaches can be seen at Uxbridge Library.

^{*1. William TOLLIT was father of Henry James Tollit, the well-known Oxford architect. Henry James TOLLIT was father of Percy Kitto TOLLIT, clergyman and schoolmaster - see Alumni Oxoniensis.}
