The Ball family is closely associated with Mt. Vernon and the Washington family. At this time, I am unaware of any evidence to link the family to Mary Ball Washington. Beginning in the 1670s, the family owned the land that bordered Mt. Vernon. Moses Ball served as a surveyor for George Washington. According to the Ball Y DNA study, the descendants of John Ball are not related to the descendants of Col William Ball, the ancestor of General George Washington, First President of the United States of America.

Benois Brasseur. also known as Benjamin Brasier, from France, Nancimond and Lower Norfolk Co.s, VA, and The Cliffs, Calvert Co., Maryland, and his wife, Mary (Richeford?), are ancestors of the late Harry S. Truman, President of the United States of America, and of Richard Cheney, Vice-President of the United States of America, through their daughter, Susanna Brasseur, who married Mareen Duvall. They are also ancestors of the actor, Robert Duval. Lord Baltimore granted Benois Letters of Denization after he moved from Lower Norfolk Co., VA, to The Cliffs, in Calvert Co., MD. His home, originally built by Richard Bennett, the former Royal Governor of both VA and MD, was in existance as late as 1960.

The Tunnell family may be descended from a French family named Tonnellier, however, I believe it is more likely to descend from Lt. Thomas Tunnell, an officer in the service of Lord Baltimore during the Maryland Revolt. He went to Delaware and the family spread out from there to the South. If the latter, this line would tie into the Scarboro and Howard families of Yorkshire and Norfolk Co., Eng.

Daniel Strunk/Strunck was a Justice of the Peace in NC and Benois Brassieur/Benjamin Brashear was a Justice of the Peace in MD. The Strunk Y DNA study is trying to tie the various Strunk families of NY, PA, and NC, together, and to extend their ancestry to Europe.

Mary Benfield Phipps, wife of Joseph Phipps, was know as Mother Phipps and is considered one of the early Quaker Divines. Her eulogy was printed in the The Friend a Philadelphia Quaker newspaper upon her death. Joseph Phipps was a tallow chandler with a shop in Elfrith's Alley in Philadelphia. He was a member of both the first legislature of Pennsylvania and of Delaware. The Phipps Y DNA study is trying to determine the origin of the family in England.

John Burnett was granted a Warrant in 1638 from Charles I as the sole merchant allowed to trade from Virginia. He and his wife, Lucretia Johnston, were both from Aberdeen, Scotland.
