Additional family info, comments:This family was very influential in the making of the morris canal and has their own cemetary near what once was the scott mansion in the town once known as Powerville. I have additional info on more Scotts in the area and will post another Query. I do not know the link to them because I've hit a brick wall at William. I know that he is tied in because they are all buried together. any help feel free to email me!!!
Additional family info, comments:I have more information on this family but I have hit a road block with William. I know that he is tied to other Scott's in the Powerville(Boonton),NJ area. They were all buried together in the Family cemetary located near the Scott Mansion. This family was also very influential in the building of the Morris Canal, and the Hibernia Mines. The original Scott that lead this family came from Ireland in the early 1770's. His name was Joseph 1754-1827. He married a Catherine Miller and was one of Morris Counties first Divorces. If anyone has any info on this family or knows where I could get more info, please email me!!! Thanks!!

Additional family info, comments:Edmund Scott was baptized at Wortham Parish Sufflokshire England Feb 22 1801. He Married Mary Lister Dec 26 1823 at the same location. Henry their 1st child was baptized their also Feb 25 1827. They came to Canada circa 1832 Henry had 2 sisters Sarah circa 1837 (married Edward Brook), Caroline circa 1839 (married John Brook), and 1 brother James circa 1842 ( married Sarah Ann Roberts). Henry had 4 wifes #1 Hanna Reid, #2 Rebecca Dungy, #3 Ann ?, and #4 Ellen Coutts. They settled around Stratford Ontario Canada. I am trying to find out about Edmund but would love any possible family related leads.

Additional family info, comments:James E. Scott was also known as James E. Reed. According to family tradition he came west from Louisville, KY with his maternal uncle, William Reed and became a mountain man and ran a early trading post in Utah. He was continually referred to as the "Little Reed" and took the surname Reed as did his descendants. I know little about his family, only that his uncle, William Reed was once in the military.

Additional family info, comments:Ellijah Harrison SCOTT died at his daughters home in SD in 1901 and was sent back to Adaville, Plymouth Co IA (which he named) for burial. Extensive searching has not produced the parents for Elljah but he shares many of the same locations and children's names as David SCOTT 1795-1865 b Albany, m Wyoming Co NY, lived in Waupaca Waupaca Co, WI until shorlty before his death when he returned to Attica, NY. A published genealogy links says David si the son of Eli and Patience (BRUCE) SCOTT; and says that Eli is a son of Oliver and Bathsheba (EASTMAN) SCOTT. Oliver is said to be a descendant of William SCOTT of Hatifie;d MA. Elijah also clained to be a cousin to Gen Winfield SCOTT and one of Eli's sons was clerking for Judge SCOTT in VA when he suddenly died. Elijah H SCOTT alternately gave his parents birth place as VT or CT. In Brookfield as in VT where Oliver SCOTT lived were descendants of Williams SCOTT of Hatfield and Edmond SCOTT 1611-1691 of Farmington, CT.

Additional family info, comments:My husband Jim's father, James Sullivan Scott, dies when he was very young. There isn't anyone left in the family to ask questions of.We know that James Sullivan Scott was born in the 1920's in Derby, Vt. He died at age 0f 36 in 1957. He lived and worked in Burlington Vt. His widow, Loretta Bessette remarried Norman Dimond and he adopted her 4 children. they had 3 more children together. James Sullivan was son of Roland R. Scott who was born about 1899. He was a milk hauler who also lived in the Burlington, Vt. area. he died shortly after his son in either 1957 or 58. Roland was adopted by Sullivan G. Scott of Newport, Vt. Records show that Roland was from the Lake George,NY area. We are assuming that Sullivan Scott must have been a relative. Census records show that Sullivan Scott was born in Vt , his father from Canada and his mother from Vt. His wife was mary from Canada.

These marriages took place Rome, Polk Co., GA. My GGrandfather took part in the Civil War serving in the Phillips Legion from GA. My GGrandmother's family was well known in Eastern GA. Her father was a lawyer, judge and state representative from the area of Paulding County. The family moved to Texas after the Civil War when they could no longer pay the taxes on their property.

Additional family info, comments:I am sorry I am such a new computer user I don't know how to do a lot of things. If some one can tell me how I will do what I need to do. I have pulled a blank with Henry C. Scott, I recently learned Patsey's last name and marriage date from LDS. Henry has made me a 5th generation Texan. He was with the 2nd group of Stephen F. Austin's "Old Three Hundred", who colonized Texas before it was a state. He and his son David fought at the battle of San Jacinta and the Texas Revolution. My GGGrandmother Elizabeth STANDIFER carried her youngest son, Abner across the Brazos River to escape Santa Anna and his Mexican Troops. They watched from a distance when Sam Houston along with her husband David attacked Santa Anna. Henry and Patsey SCOTT were married in Madison, Ala. The 1820-30 census shows them living in Franklin County, Ala I have papers showing both Henry and David Scott receiving Spanish Land grants in the colonization of Texas.

Additional family info, comments:Looking for more information on Henry C. Scott. According to his death certificate his parents were born in Scotland but are unknown. Also certificate states that he was born in Derby, Vermont. A recent trip to Derby and surrounding towns came up with nothing. State of Vermont has no record. Henry served the State of New Jersey during the Civil War and we are told that he was wounded. We don't know what his parents, brothers or sisters names would have been. We do know that he is buried in the Evergreen Cemetary in Hillside, N.J. along with his wife and other Scott's who may have been related in some way. Henry married Mary in 1864 so there may have been other wifes we think. He may have been in other states as well. Anyone who has any information on this Scott line please e-mail or write. Thank you.

Additional family info, comments:All of the Scott's I have found to date have been in Inverkip, Renfrew(shire), Scotland. John and Agnes Beith's children were all born at Shieldhill Farm in Inverkip. I have been working on a collateral line of John and Agnes Beith's son John. This John was born 1792 and died 1883, he married Martha Barclay/Barkley. All of their children were also born at Shieldhill Farm. Recently found out that there was a Mrs. W. Scott at Shieldhill Farm in 1912. Have all of John and Agnes Beith's children to include birth and christening dates. Have all or most of John and Martha's children, with dates, some with spouses and their children.

Scott is buried in the Bunnell Cemetery in Clinton Co.,Indiana. I have a photo of the Scotts taken in Pine Bluff, AR., but I do not know what connection Arkansas has with the family. Also, James is listed with family in the Indiana 1860 Census, but not in 1870. He either died, divorced Jane, or left for an unknown reason. James had property in Tippecanoe Co.,IN. which was inherited by Martha, Louisa, and Phebe. Additional family info, comments:Per the "Carolina Cradle" by Ramsey published by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill our Scott family came from Cecil Co., MD, although the Scotts were in many Maryland Counties previously. John Scott left a will in Rowan Co., NC in 1760 naming his two sons, John and James and dau. Mary Burnett. This John Scott married Agnes Reed and the family moved to Livingston Co., KY area in 1797 where Walter was born. Walter and family moved to Hardeman Co., TN about 1823 and in late 1833 to Mena, AR area in Sevier Co., part of which became Polk Co., AR. See 1850 census of Polk Co. About 1852 they moved to Hempstead Co., AR in the Bodcaw area. In 1915 Ida Scott Russell and family moved to Idabel, OK. Walter Scott was the first state Representive from Polk Co., and his son, Jenkins was its first County Clerk. Walter's daughterMargaret Delaney Scott married William E. F. Jones, great grandson of John Sevier, the first governor of Tennessee. Jenkins Scott was killed at the Battle of Champeon's Hill which preceded the siege of Vicksburg. Rovolutionary service by Joshua Scott in Sumter's Brigade has been established and it is thought that John and son Joseph also had Revoluntionary service. Several of Hohn's sons in law fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain including Benjamin Hardin who married his daughter, Elizabeth in 1782 in Rutherford Co., NC.

Additional family info, comments:Tradition states William Scott was "born on the ocean coming from Ireland about 1738". Parents are unknown. His brothers include 1)Francis Scott killed 4/5/1756 at Sideling Hill (from The History of Cumberland Co), 2)James Scott,PA, 3)John Scott 1748-49 located on the Juanita River, later went to Corn Island,Ky with George Rogers Clark in 1778 along with brother William, 4)Robert Scott born Rye Ireland b.1735 (spinner) 5) Patrick Scott Cumberland Co. 6) Andrew Scott (half-brother) d. 1778 enroute to KY with George Rogers Clark. William Scott and Helen Montgomery were married near Lancaster, PA in 1767. Children: Robert m. Ann Galloway, John m. Mary Congleton, Margaret m. James Wilson and Patrick m Annie Campbell and sally Poston. Apparently William moved around a lot. His son Patrick says he came out to Ohio in 1778, and in 1777 he had been in the Red Stone Country, now Fayette Co, PA. He says his father moved 13 times in 1 year! He ended in Burbon Co. KY. where he died in 1804.

Additional family info, comments:I started this genealogy about a year ago. My grandfather was an orphan, I have some info on Wildrick, My grandmothers maiden name was Scott. My grandfather lived to be 103 yrs old, and grandmother 101 yrs old. I promised my grandfather, I would try and locate his family and my grandmothers, before I pass on. My grandmothers Name was Ethel Maude Scott, She was born in Dorchester, Nebraska, Her Father and Mothers names were Jobe Scott, Josephine Dupree, I know they came from back east. Additional family info, comments:Ziba Scott and Elsie Rudy Scott, G GP lived in Scranton, Pa around 1860. I do not know much else about them except that Ziba is said to have had a Native American mother or grandmother from around that part of the country. They had seven children: Floyd, Daniel, Mary, Gertrude, Evert, Peter and Edwin (my g grandfather. Edwin Scott, my grandfather was married twice. Once to Ann Mary Rosar and had one child by her, Ann. Ann Mary died around 1902 when Ann was born. Edwin then married Elizabeth Rosar, Ann Mary's sister. I am Edwin and Elizabeth's grandchild. Edwin and Elizabeth lived in Richmondale? and Scranton and had the following children: Caroline 1907; Edwin Lucas 1909; Virginia 1911; Leo 1913; Joseph 1914; Elsie 1916; Michael (my dad) 1919; and Marie (also known as Mimi) 1921. Additional family info, comments:I don't know very much about the Scott side. All I really know is that my great-grandparents immigrated to Canada from France in the early 1900's. I only know that my great-grandfather's name was Ovilia Scott. My grandfather was born around 1921, but I'm no one knows for sure if he was born in France, Canada or the Dakota's. My grandfather has 4 (?) sisters. One is named Rose, and she currently lives in the Dakota area. My grandfather served in the US Army during WWII, at which time he met my grandmother (Grace Joan Huffman) at a USO in IL. They moved to and settled in Terre Haute, Indiana. They had 9 kids (8 sons, and 1 daughter). My father is Michael Scott who still currently lives in Terre Haute, as far as I know.

Additional family info, comments:My Scott connection is through the two sisters, Jane and Anna Scott, who lived in Pittsburg(h), PA and who married two brothers, John and James Wisely, whose parents (Samuel Wisely and Mary McCracken)emigrated from Northern Ireland to Philadelphia, PA in 1819. Jane Scott married John Wisely who was my 3rd great-grandfather. Anna Scott married James Wisely, John's older brother. They all lived in Pittsburgh for several years, but in 1858, they moved to Vandalia, IN. Jane Scott died in 1865 and was one of the first persons buried in the Garrard Cemetery in Vandalia, IN. She was survived by 6 children. I am trying to find out who Jane and Anna Scott's parents were and when they came to Pittsburgh. I believe the Scotts came from Ireland or Scotland, but have no info to support that. Does anyone know anything about these 2 sisters? If so, I would love to hear from you! Thanks in advance! Additional family info, comments: Believe that John and Ellen had 14 children....I don't have all of them, only 10, the first one being born 1820 OH. Speculated connection with the Crawford SCOTT family from Ireland...possibly the Donegal area. They lived in Carroll Co. OH and Owen Co. in IN. I have tons of family info to share with others who are connected.
