Nicholas Gaul Birth Place

Nicholas Gaul was born in Pratz, Luxemburg, and the below Christmas card shows the house he was born in. Nicholas was one of 9 children born there, and 8 of the children born there came to the USA when they were adults. One, Rosalie, stayed in Luxemburg, where she married Pierre Kisch and had three children. One of those children, Marie, married Nicolas Steichen, and they had a child, Jean Pierre.

The picture below appears in Peter Gaul's very fine book entitled, "The Nicholas and Susanna (Friedmann) Gaul Family". The house shown in the picture no longer exists, but the houses shown as adjoining it still do.
