| This photo was taken from the vineyards above Wellenstein. As you can see, the vines are not yet greened out in the month of May. Wellenstein is the ancestral village of the Schmit family. My great-grandfather, Anton Schmit, who immigrated to America in 1882, was born there in 1833. The Schmit line has been traced back to the late 1600s in Wellenstein. |
