She was a member of the Borculo Christian Reformed Church and its Ladies Aid Society. A son, Gerald, died in Germany during World War II and her husband died in 1973. Surviving are one son, Marvin H. Vanden Bosch of Zeeland; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Joyce) Lamer of Borculo; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jacob Essenburg of California, Gerrit and Herman of Zeeland and John of Holland: four sisters, Mrs. Peter (Mary) Elenbaas, Mrs. Harry (Emma) Driesenga, Mrs. George (Grace) Vollink and Mrs. Harvey (Jessie) Mast, all of Zeeland; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ralph (Jennie) Essenburg of Holland and a brother-in-law,Bert Geurink of Zeeland. Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Borculo Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Theodore Brouwer officiating. Burial will be in Uorculo cemetery. Essenburg, 47, of route 2 Holland, was recovered from Pigeon Lake at Port Sheldon Friday, about three hours after hewas reported missing from work. Essenburg, an employe of the Ottawa County Road Commission for 17 years, failed to return to the road commission garage in Zeeland at 4 p,m and officials notified Ottawa County deputies who started searching the area. Deputies located Essenburg's truck at Pigeon Lake at 6:18 p.m. and at 7:10 p.m. the body was found. Sheriff's officers said Essenburg apparently took his own life. Surviving are the wife, Jennie: two daughters, Mrs. Robert Hoffman of Grand Rapids and Judy at home;, two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Kate Essenburg of Zeeland; four brothers, Jacob of Holland, Gerrit of Borculo, Herman of Zeeland and John of Holland; five sisters, Mrs. Herman Vanden Bosch, Mrs. Harry Driesenga, both of Borculo, Mrs. Peter Elenbaas of Jenison, Mrs. George Vollink and Mrs. Harvey Mast of Borculo; one brother-in-law, Bert Geurink of Borculo. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Noordeloos Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. A. Walcott officiating. Relatives are asked to meet in the church parsonage at 1:45 p.m. Friends and relatives may meet the family at Yntema Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mr. Essenburg who recently became owner of the Essenburg Shoe Repair Shop in Zeeland, was a former consistory member of Noordeloos Church and also was a former school board member. Tuesday, October 24, 2006 John Essenburg, 84 ZEELAND -- John Essenburg, 84, of Ada, formerly of Holland, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys, in 1992. He was a member of Ada Community Reformed Church and was a former member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church where he was a member of the Men's Society, ushering committee and Boy's Club. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; stepchildren, Carol and Bill Mack of Arizona, Susan and Gary Scoles of Lowell, Orin Comdure of Lowell, and Joyce Comdure of Georgia; six stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; sister, Jessie and Harvey Mast of Zeeland; in-laws, Hazel Essenburg of Zeeland, Martha Schut of Hudsonville, Theresa Wiersum of Jenison, Florence and Bill Post of Cascade, Elsie Detmers of Florida, Elva and Frank Middlebrook of Belding, Carolyn Hansma of New York, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
