Obituary -- William Pater, 64, died a 1 p.m. Wednesday in his home at 405 West Main street. Mr. Pater had been in ill health for the past two weeks and suffered a stroke a few days ago. He was born July 25, 1887. Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Maurice Hopp, and Mrs. Albert Hendricks, Waupun, and Mrs. Bernard Zabel, Fair Water, and two sons, Delmer, Milwaukee, and Henry, at home. She died on 25 Aug 1983 in Waupun, Fond Du Lac, WI, USA. Mrs. Minnie Pater, age 87, of Woodland Drive, Waupun, died Thursday, Aug 25, 1983, at her home. She was born October 4, 1895 in Alto to Dick and Minnie Tenpas Scheuers. On December 9, 1912 she married William Pater. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the Waupun area and later moved to Waupun. Mrs. Pater was employed by National Rivet in the early 1950's. She was a member of the First Reformed Church.
She is survived by a son, Henry Pater of rural Brandon; and by three daughters, Mrs. James (Martha) Schouten, rural Waupun, Mrs. Albert (Mildred) Hendricks, rural Waupun; Mrs. Bernard Zabel, rural Brandon. Her two brothers, Edward Schears of Milwaukee, and James Scheuers of rural Waupun, also survive. Survivors also include her two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Riel, Randolph, and Mrs. Emma Tamminga, Pardeeville. Minnie had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951, by two sons, three brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pater were held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Reformed Church with the Rev. Arnold Dykhuizen officiating. Burial followed at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Friends and relatives called at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday at church from noon until the hour of service.

She was married to James Schouten in 1970. She resided in Waupun all her life, was a member of First Reformed Church, Waupun, and the Ladies Guild.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Elizabeth Frank, Waupun, Marlynn (Gerald) Krause, Calif; one son, Dayton(Pat) Hopp, Waupun; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Hendricks, Waupun, Mrs. Bernard Zabel, Brandon, WI; one brother, Henry Pater, Ladoga, WI. She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1968; two daughters, one son, two great-grandchildren and two brothers. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. She married Albert B. Hendricks on Nov. 29, 1942. The couple resided in Waupun all of their married life.
Mildred worked at the Ideal Shoe Factory in Waupun for many years. She also did housekeeping for various area families.
Mildred was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church of Waupun. She is survived by two sons, Bernie (Marlene) Hendricks of Montello and Henry (Sandy) Hendricks of Waupun; three daughters, Barbara (Joel) Sterk of Waupun, Helen DeSmidt (fiancé Mike Behnke) of Campbellsport and Mary (Ron) Mueller of Waupun; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, two brothers and two sisters.
* Services: Funeral services for Mildred Hendricks will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun, with the Rev. G. M. deLeeuw officiating. Burial will follow at the Alto Cemetery in Alto.

RIPON - Wilma Zabel, 71, of 504 Russell Drive, Ripon, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m., at Waupun Assembly of God Church. The Revs. Jeff Casper and Don Dieke will officiate. Burial will be in Mackford Union Cemetery, town of Mackford, Green Lake County.

Mrs. Zabel was born on Feb. 16, 1930, in the township of Waupun, the daughter of William and Minnie (Scheuers) Pater. She was married on Feb. 18, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairwater, to Bernard Lyle Zabel.

Mrs. Zabel was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion in life was that all people would know Jesus. She had a love of gardening and enjoyed God's great outdoors. She was a giving person and was a faithful prayer warrior. She was a member of the Ripon Assembly of God, and a former member of the Waupun Assembly of God Church. She was formerly employed with the Waupun Memorial Hospital for 10 years in the housekeeping department.

Survivors include one son, Duane (Patricia) Zabel, Beaver Dam; five daughters, Kathleen Jenkins, Ripon, Diane Spiegler, Green Lake, Colleen (Tom) Guderski, Ripon, Lorna Jean (Richard) Wetzel, Ripon, SueEllen (Dennis) Leden, Fairwater; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Hendricks, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard on July 2, 1990; her parents; one son, Verlynn Zabel on Aug. 5, 1996; three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Friday, July 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Hope of Fond du Lac.

Henry Pater was born on 5 Jul 1932 in Waupun, Fond Du Lac, WI, USA. He died on 1 Apr 1989 in Ladoga, Fond du Lac, WI. Mr. Henry Pater, age 56, or Route 2, Brandon (Ladoga) died suddenly on Saturday, April 1, 1989. Mr. Pater was born on July 5, 1932 in Waupun, the son of the late William and Minnie (Schears) Pater. He married Elaine Lueck on Nov. 10, 1951 in Ripon. The couple have lived in Ladoga most of their married life, where Henry was employed by National Rivet of Waupun since the early 1950's. He has been a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Ripon for many years. He also was a member of the Wisconsin National Guards for 20 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; two sons, David and Ronald Pater at home; four daughters, Darlene Pater of Brandon, Peggy and Lori Pater both of Fond du Lac, and Michelle Pater at home; one foster daughter, Lois (Bernard) Zick of Waupun; two sisters, Mildred(Al) Hendricks of Waupun, Wilma(Bernard) Zabel of Brandon; one sister-in-law, Marge (Casey) Lucas of Brookfield; two grandchildren; four foster grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Ripon with the Rev. C.S. Hollerup officiating. Burial will be at Wedges Prairie Cemetery in Ladoga. Visitation was held at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to the hour of service. He was buried on 4 Apr 1989 in Wedges Prarie Cemetery, Ladoga, WI.
