N. 92nd St., Milwaukee. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah.

Of Milwaukee and Menomonee Falls, died Thursday, June 5, 1997, age 82 years. 
Loving wife of the late Edward Otto. Loving mother to Homer, Margaret, and 
Richard of Minneapolis. Also survived by sister-in-law Betty Hartfel, nieces 
and nephews Chris, Pat, Mick, Debbie, Felicia, other relatives and many dear 
friends. Born in Butler, IN, graduate of Franklin College and Methodist 
Hospital School of Nursing, Indianapolis, IN. She was Assistant Director of 
Nurses at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee between 1945 and 1951. 
 
Alice helped found the Menomonee Falls Center and was its premier parent 
councilor for years. She was an active member of ARCh. She was also 
instrumental in the passage of the PKU (Phenylketonuria) Law, which tests 
every newborn for PKU. 
 
Alice was a longtime resident of Menomonee Falls, an avid camper and a very 
avid traveler. 
 
Alice was an immeasurable example of all that was good in life. She was a 
wife, a mother, an advocate, a teacher, a mentor, the best of friends, and a 
fine example of a human being. A nurse by profession, Alice used her 
knowledge, experience, and personal insight to provide comfort and care for 
many. Alice was loved and respected by all who knew her. She will be greatly 
missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. 
 
Funeral Services will be held 1 PM Mon., June 9 at The Milwaukee Protestant 
Home, 2449 N. Downer Ave., followed by a procession to Wood National 
Cemetery.

of Naples, coming here 37 years ago from South Milwaukee, WI. Mrs. Lucas was 
a founding member of the Country Club of Naples and the Naples Cruise Club, a 
member of the Naples Yacht Club and Naples Sailing Club. She had also been 
founding member of the Trinity Memorial Hospital Auxillary in Cudahy, WI and 
a member of the Tuckaway Country Club in Franklin, WI. 
 
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald F.; her children, Lois 
(Ray) Forsythe, James F.  (Barbara) Lucas and Jay K. (Marilyn) Lucas; her 
grandchildren, Penny (Michael) Fleming, Bonnie (James) Hemmerich, Bradley 
(Julie) Lucas, Brian (Mary) Lucas, Bridget (Alex) Bosch, Wendy (Matthew) 
Murphy, Michael (Mary) Lucas and Jill (Tim) Cook. Also surviving are 17 great 
grandchildren, her sister, Lucille Lucas and her sister-in-law Paula 
Squillacote. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Connit and her 
brother-in-law Robert Lucas. 
 
The family suggests memorial contributions in Ferne's name to the American 
Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of one's

(nee Markowski) Joyfully lifted into the arms of her Savior on June 6, 1997 
at the age of 84 years.  Welcomed to her heavenly home by her beloved husband 
Eugene, dearest parents Antonia and Joseph, and ten cherished brothers and 
sisters who already dwell in the garden of eternal light. 
 
Alice leaves behind to fulfill her legacy three children who will miss her 
beyond measure; Dennis (Arlene), Judith (Norman) Stys, and Thomas (Elaine). 
She is the dearly loved grandmother of Wendy (Chris), Sherry, Jeffery, Jill, 
Kim (Scott), Michelle (Mike), Colette (Brian), Jennifer, and Timothy, and the 
treasured great-grandma of Blair, Kyla, and Courtney. Alice is also survived 
by her cherished sister Sylvia who cared for her so tenderly during her final 
earthly journey, and by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear 
friends. 
 
Alice spent her life ministering to others as proclaimed in the prayer of St. 
Francis. She was a registered nurse who, following her marriage to Gene, 
dedicated herself to the care of family, the needs of friends, service to her 
Church, and the glorious blooming of her garden. 
 
Alice had a deep love of the Blessed Virgin Mary in whose footsteps she 
followed with great diligence and compassion.
