KS, passed away Friday, June 11, 1999, at Providence Medical Center. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Christ the King Catholic
Church, 53rd & Leavenworth Rd.; burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may
call 6-7 p.m. Sunday at Meyers Family Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas
City, KS, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may
be made to St. Theresa's Orphanage, c/o Industrial State Bank, 3200 Strong, Kansas
City, KS 66106.
Mr. Eckery was born January 10, 1913, in Lincoln, NE. He was a member
of Christ the King Catholic Church. He owned and managed Bob's Barber Shop at
81st & Leavenworth Rd. for 30 years, retiring in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Isabell Eckery, in 1998.
Survivors include his son, Paul Eckery, Kansas City, MO; daughter, Mary
Wolf, Kansas City, KS; sister, Barbara Jodoin, Portland, OR; two granddaughters,
Deborah Forbis and Stacey Bell, both of Kansas City, KS; and four great-grandchildren.
He was buried on 14 Jun 1999 in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Wyandotte,
KS. Robert Leroy Eckery and Mary Isabel Rector were married on 20
Jul 1939 in Lincoln, Lancaster, NE. The wedding of Miss Isabel Rector
to Robert Eckery, son of Mrs. Catherine Zellmer of Braddock, N. D., took place
at a ceremony performed by Very Rev. Msgr. Clarence Riordan Saturday at 9 a.
m. at St. Mary's cathedral. The bride wore a blue and white crepe dress with
white accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Eckery were the only attendants and Mrs.
Eckery wore a black and white chiffon dress with matching accessories. The bridal
party went to the Beacon coffee shop after the ceremony and a wedding breakfast
was served. Mr. and Mrs. Eckery will be at home at 1345 G.
Mr. Eckery is associated in business with the Smith filling station.
