George Arndorfer Dies, Formerly Of St. Benedict
George Arndorfer of Britt, 83-year-old former St. Benedict area farmer, died
Thursday, July 28, at his home.
Last rites for Mr. Arndorfer were held in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10
a.m. Saturday with Rev. John J. Brickley the celebrant. Burial was in the St.
Benedict Catholic cemetery, the Boughton-Cataldo Funeral Home of Britt in charge
of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Terry Kohlhaas, Wayne Kohlhaas, Keith Kohlhaas, Kevin Arndorfer,
Rick Fangman and Dan Welter.
George, son of Joseph and Rosa Eisenbarth Arndorfer, was born at St. Benedict
May 1, 1894. He was married to Louise Neppl at St. Benedict November 24, 1926.
They farmed in the St. Benedict area until 1963 when they moved to Britt.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, and four daughters: Ethel, Mrs. Al Kohlhaas,
LuVerne; Ida Made, Mrs. Melvin Arndorfer, Wesley; Rosalyn, Mrs. John Fangman,
Britt; Robert, Mrs. William Welter, LeMars. There are 19 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Seven brothers and sisters also survive: Herb Arndorfer, Algona; Ben, Britt;
Lucy and Caroline, St. Benedict; Mrs. Hilda Benz, Roberts, Illinois; Jen, Mrs.
George Olson, Irvington; and Mrs. Ann Miller, Algona.
Mr. Arndorfer was a member of St. Patrick's Church at Britt and the Holy Name
Society.
He was preceded in death by a son, Loren, who died in 1963; his parents; one
brother; and three sisters, Joe, Clara, Josephine and Laura.
George Arndorfer and Louise Neppl were married on 24 Nov 1926 in St. Benedict,
Kossuth, IA. Louise Neppl was born on
15 Jun 1898 in Willey, Carroll, IA. She died on 23 Apr 1981 in Britt,

Funeral service for Louise J. Arndorfer, 82, of Britt, was held at 10 a.m. Thursday,
April 23, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Britt with Rev. James Smith the
celebrant. Interment was in the St. Benedict Cemetery at St. Benedict with Carter
and Ewing Funeral Home of Britt in charge of the arrangements.
Casketbearers were grandson: Terry Kohlhaas, Wayne Kohlhaas, Keith Kohlhaas,
Rick Fangman, Kevin Arndorfer and Dan Welter. Randy Fangman was an honorary bearer.
Louise Neppl, daughter of Jacob and Mary Kraus Nepple, was born at Willey, Iowa
June 15, 1898. She attended school in the Willey area and moved to St. Benedict
where she was married to George Arndorfer on November 24, 1926.
Mr. and Mrs. Arndorfer farmed in the St. Benedict area until 1963 and moving
into town. Mr. Arndorfer died in 1977 and it was in 1979 that his wife became
a resident of Westview Manor in Britt.
She was a charter member of the St. Benedict Court of C.D.A., an honorary member
of St. Patrick's Rosary Guild and enjoyed the neraly lost art of tatting.
Mrs. Arndorfer is survived by three daughters and a son: Ethel, Mrs. Al Kohlhaas
of LuVerne; Rosalyn, Mrs. John Fangman, Britt; Bobby, Mrs. William Welter, LeMars;
and Melvin Arndorfer of Wesley. There are 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Two sisters also survive: Clara, Mrs. Ted Vogt of Carroll; Amelia, Mrs. John
Broich of Willey; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rose Neppl of Carroll. She was buried
on 27 Apr 1981 in St. Benedict Cemetery, St. Benedict, Kossuth, IA.
