Obit -- Trucker Dies in Mishap at Winona, Minn. Harry R. Cordle, 38, Charles
City, died at 4 p.m. Monday at a Winona, Minn., hospital, from injuries received
when he was crushed about 1 p.m. between a semi-trailer and a loading dock at
Winona. Don Kelly, West Salem, Wis., truck driver, told this story: Cordle
walked between the loading platform and Kelly's truck. The truck apparently
rolled back, trapping Cordle. Harlan Prichard, driver for the Twin Cities-Winona
Motor Express company, jumped into Kelly's truck intending to release Cordle.
Instead, the truck went backwards, evindently from an error in shifting, and
Cordle was crushed. He died during the night in Winona General hospital. Formerly
a resident of Mason City, Mr. Cordle and his family had moved to Charles City
about two years ago. He was in partnership with a brother, W. R.Cordle, in the
Cordle Cartage Company. Mr. Cordle was born July 15, 1913, at Union, Iowa,
and came to Mason City with his parents in 1920. He was married to Ruth Carman
at Princeton, Mo., in 1935. They established their first residence in Mason
City, where he managed the operation of a transportation company. Surviving
are his wife, a daughter, Susan, and two sons, Kenneth and Tommy of Charles City;
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cordle, Mason City; two sisters, Mrs. Earl
Bailey, Iowa Falls; and Mrs. Walter Matzen, Mason City; and 3 brothers, W. R.Cordle,
