Welcome!
He was born somewhere in New York circa 1798. The earliest I find my Horace M. SCOTT is 1830 in Bridgewater, New York Census. My first clue was a funeral record for my Great Grandfather, Newton JEFFERS which stated his mother's name as ALMIRA SCOTT.

which included Horace M. SCOTT, a physician from New York, in Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin 1860.
Horace M. SCOTT

I knew from family here~say that my Great Great Grandfather was Isaac Newton JEFFERS so I went searching census for Isaac and Almira. Then I discovered Almira and Newton in Dane County, Wisconsin Census for 1870 living in the Horace M. SCOTT household just two years before the second marriage of her husband, Isaac JEFFERS to Catherine FULLER, in 1872, I decided Horace must have been Almira's father. She was not living with Isaac, I assume they seperated. I finally found Horace in New York for the years 1830 and 1840 and listed in his household is a female which would fit my ALMIRA SCOTT. Because the 1830. and 1840 census only lists given names for the head of the household, I have no way of knowing who Horace married and what relation he has to these younger generation of SCOTT s living with Horace.
