| My Mother's Scottish family WHY I AM INTERESTED IN THIS FAMILY: My mother was a McIntosh via son William above. McIntosh is a common name centered around the Nairn valley which includes Petty. Fisherton was, as the name suggests, a fishing village but today no trace remains on the beach. Have lots to share. Thanks to Jean Bannerman for all the scottish lines. Thanks as well to Stewart and Valerie Moir. |

DEATH William McIntosh, 61, born Fisherton of Petty and remained there all his life, parents John McIntosh, Fisherman, and Isobell McIntosh, Maiden name Cameron. Deceased was married to Margaret McIntosh, deceased and they had children; John, 25, Isabella, 23, Janet, 21, Margaret, 19. He died 29 July 1855 at 1 PM at Fisherton, Petty. Cause of death was Phthisis (sic). Cavity in right lung and haemoptysis for 10 days. Disease continued seven months. As certified by James Tolnice Surgeon who saw deceased 27 July. Buried in the parish burial place. Informant was Hugh Noble, neighbour. NOTE: The children's ages are likely inaccurate because the neighbour did the registration. Son John did the death registration for his mother and the list of children under her death notes is probably more accurate. Source: Copy of the certificate of registration obtained by Alexandra Norton in Edinburgh and mailed to Randy Saylor, April 2003. |
