This is probably not expandable either but I'd very much like to hear from anyone with connections to this family. The priest in my GGGrandmother Mary RYAN's church didn't record her marriage in his register. I've often wondered if this is common, could the fact that she was an unwed mother have anything to do with it? Too much sacremental wine? In any case her father Michael RYAN wed Catherine VAUGHAN in 1871 at Notre Dame in Montréal. We have their parents in Ireland, (Thomas RYAN, Bridget MEALLY, Patrick VAUGHAN, Ellen CRETTY), but nothing beyond that.
The name Ryan in Ireland is among the ten most frequently found in the entire country. Descendants usually derive from the O'Maoilriain Sept that was based in Limerick or from the O'Riain Sept that was based in Leinster.
