Mrs. William I. Shields, {address removed for privacy}, who will be celebrating her 80th birthday Wednesday, was honored at a surprise party Sunday in the community room of the North Gettysburg Office of the Adams County National Bank, Harrisburg Road. Approximately 100 members of her family attended and presented gifts and a money tree. The occasion was planned by her children: Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Fox; Edward, Gettysburg; Mrs. Earl (Mildred) Snyder, Hanover; Mrs. Marshall (Della) Walter, and William, Chambersburg; Mrs. Sebastian (Helen) Hafer, Camp Hill; Mrs. Richard (Anna) Millard, Harrisburg; Mrs. Frank (Nancy) Davilla, York and Mrs. Richard (Leoda) McLaughlin, Madison, Wisconsin, who arrived Saturday to spend a week with her mother. Guests included 38 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Celebrates 99th – (Photo) – Mrs. William (Sara) Shields, Gettysburg marked her 99th birthday on September 26, with a celebration dinner at Rosie’s Restaurant in New Oxford. Mrs. Shields raised nine children; five of whom are still living. Attending the dinner were: Mrs. Richard (Leoda) McLaughlin of Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Eleanore) Fox, Mrs. Sebastian (Helen) Hafer, Mrs. Edward Shields, all of Gettysburg; Mr. and Mrs. William Shields Jr., and Marshall Walters all of Chambersburg; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davila (Nancy) of York; Richard Millard of Harrisburg; and Joyce Snyder of Hanover. At four o’clock an open house was held at Sara Shields home for the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
