SHIELDS Gloria Aleen
Shields, a beautiful Christian wife, mother and friend departed this
life May 23, 1984 to join her Heavenly Father. She is survived by a
devoted husband, Benjamin C. Shields; son Steven S. Shields; daughter,
Mrs. Susan S. Harris; son-in-law, William T. Harris III; a grandson,
Jason Alan Shields; two sisters; four brothers; and many other close
relatives and friends whose relationships she cherished. Her remains
rest at the Joseph W. Blileys Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd.
where services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Dale Memorial
Park. If desired contributions may be made to The American Cancer

Sandra Claire Shields GriffinHICKORY -- Mrs. Griffin, 59, of [address deleted for privacy], died July 30, 2005 at Hospice of Catawba Valley. Memorial service is 11:00 AM Wednesday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, with Pastor David R. Keck, Jr., and Vicar Heather Apel officiating. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM today at Hosewell Presbyterian Church, Huntersville. Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker, and was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Cowan and Margaret Parsons Shields. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Earl Griffin of the home; sons, Cowan Lee Griffin and wife, Erika, of Chapel Hill, NC, Steven Douglas Griffin and wife, Angel, of Lenoir, and Michael Jesse Griffin and wife, Susann, of Pendleton, SC; brother, Benjamin Cowan Shields of Richmond, VA; sister-in-law, Jeanell G. Hutto of Rentz, GA; eight grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Capital Campaign, 2780 N. Center Street, Hickory, NC 28601, or to Palliative Care Center, Hospice of Catawba Valley, Inc., 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. Hickory Funeral Home is serving the Griffin family. Benjamin Cowan Shields, Jr.We celebrate the life of Ret. TSgt. Benjamin Cowan Shields, USAF. Mr. Shields was also a retired Philip Morris employee. He peacefully ended his journey on Earth at age 78, on September 21, 2005, and is now walking with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Jean Brunk Shields; daughters, Susan Shields Sasek and her husband, Dean, Betty Brunk McAllister and her husband, Buddy; sons, Steven Scott Shields, Alfred Stephen Brunk and his wife, Vickie; grandchildren, Christy, Jason, Holly, Cindy, Kathi, Lindsey, Joseph, Kristen, D.J., and Sarah, all of Chesterfield. He is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and others whose relationships he cherished. He was a faithful Christian and a member of Walmsley United Methodist Church, and was a loyal husband, father, Pop Pop, and friend. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where family and friends will gather on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held, 2 p.m. Saturday. Gloria Aleen East Shields is my mother -- she died in 1984 after fighting breast cancer for over 14 years
Sandra Claire Shields Griffin is the daughter of Benjamin C. & Margaret P. Shields; my aunt & my father's half-sister.
Benjamin Cowan Shields, Jr. is my father -- he died of Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which he suffered from for
several years; less than 2 months after his sister Sandy died.
