Hannah Jane Wickham Correll (Corell)

Mrs. Hannah J., the beloved wife of Mr. George V. Correll, residing near Big Tunnel, Va., died at their family residence Friday morning, May 11th, 1906, at 5:15, after a lingering illness of more than two years. She was 61 years and 11 days old, and leaves behind her to mourn her loss a loving husband and 11 living children. She was a strict and devoted member of the German Baptist Church, and had been ever since she was 16 years of age. In the loss of this dear one the family and husband are not the only ones who will be losers by her demise, but the entire community will miss her, for to meet and know her was to love her on account of her loving and affectionate ways and her true Christian devotion and friendliness to all who came in contact and knew her.

Oh, it is so hard to give you up, dear mama, but still while we are left behind to mourn your loss, we know that you have only gone home, there to rest from your earthly labors, free from the sufferings of this troublesome old world, and await our coming, and while we have been called upon to give you up we know that God has only called you up home, there to reap your reward for your true devotion and loyalty to His glorious cause, while you was down here with us. Thefefore [sic], we freely submit to Him, and say His holy will be done, as we know we cannot always keep you here with us, therefore we say good-bye for the present, as we know it will only be a short while until we will all meet again on that bright and shining shore, where there will be no more partings or sorrows, there where we will all be united to part no more.

My great aunt Myrtle Corell Myers had these clippings (newspaper clipping, no name of newspaper), and her nephew, William Russell East, Jr., gave these to me after she passed away.
