Brightwell Marriage Records

James R. Collie & Sarah L. J. Brightwell
Marriage Bond
1846, Pittsylvania Co., VA


Know all men by these presents, That we James R. Collie and William P. Chism are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars, to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, Executors, and Administrators jointly, and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 16th day of March 1846. The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas a marriage is intended to be solemnized between the above bound James R. Collie and Sarah L. J. Brightwell of Pittsylvania County.
Now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue.
