RECORD OF STERLING GARDNER AND PRISCILLA NEAL (BEALL) GARDNER.

PRISCILLA NEAL BEALL, fourth daughter of Robert Beall and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Beall, was born in Warren County, Ga., June 28, 1810; was twice married, first in 1826, to Sterling Gardner, son of Sterling Gardner and wife (a Miss Neal), who was born in 1808. There were five children by this marriage.

1. Elizabeth Gardner, born May 8, 1827; died young.
2. Dr. Robert Beall Gardner, born July 8, 1829.
3. Rev. George Allen Gardner, born May 5, 1831.
4. Wesley Fletcher Gardner, born November 11, 1832; died, aged 21; unmarried.
5. Rev. Sterling Gardner, born May 7, 1834.

After the death of Mr. Gardner, which occurred in 1834, his widow, Mrs. Priscilla Neal Gardner, married January 7, 1836, to Dr. James Anderson, who was born March 3, 1803. There were four children by this last marriage:

1. Mary Alethea Anderson, born December 9, 1836.
2. Thomas Watkins Anderson, born September 19, 1838.
3. John Owen Anderson, born June 13, 1840; died in 1852.

4. Grant James Anderson, born November 3, 1842.

RECORD OF DR. ROBERT BEALL GARDNER AND SUSANNAH BROWN (GORHAM) GARDNER.

DR. ROBERT BEALL GARDNER, oldest son of Sterling Gardner and Priscilla Neal (Beall) Gardner, was born in Warren County, Ga., July 8, 1829; married July 27, 1854, to Susannah Brown Gorham, daughter of Willis Gorham and Mary (Anderson) Gorham, of Harris County, Ga., who was born August 8, 1833. They settled in Barnesville, Pike County, Ga., where he had an extensive medical practice. After the close of the war in 1865, he removed with his family to Giles County, Tenn., where he engaged in farming, and was prevailed on to accept the principalship of the high school in Pulaski, which position he filled for several years. He was delegate to the Convention that elected Jefferson Davis, President of the Southern Confederacy. Served as surgeon in the army. He left the school in Pulaski, retired to his farm, where he died October 9, 1882. His wife died April 10, 1906. There were born to them ten children:

1. Walter Gorham Gardner, born October 29, 1855.
2. Sarah Neal Gardner, born November 14, 1856.
3. Mary Emily Gardner, born August 27, 1858.
4. Fannie Beall Gardner, born March 27, 1860.
5. Dr. Robert Lee Gardner, born April 2, 1862.
6. Rev. George McDowell Gardner, born April 20, 1865.

7. Willis Sterling Gardner, born July 8, 1867; died November 22, 1904; unmarried.
8. Clifford Anderson Gardner, born July 9, 1869.
9. Susan Eloise Gardner, born March 19, 1871.
10. John Smith Gardner, born December 17, 1872; unmarried.

WALTER GORHAM GARDNER, oldest son of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner, was born in Barnesville, Ga., October 29, 1855, was twice married, first, August 12, 1883, to Mrs. Hester Ann Swinson, nee Carroll, who was born August 12, 1859. Issue three children:

1. Katie Gardner, born May 26, 1884; died July 20, 1884.

2. Helen Brown Gardner, born December 9, 1885; married May 8, 1906, to Joseph W. Cannon. Issue one child.

3. Ellis May Gardner, born September 14, 1888; married January 23, 1907; to William Rhodes.

Walter Gorham Gardner's second marriage, October 17, 1897, to Miss Daisy Clay Burton, who was born January 5, 1879. Issue three children:

4. Fay Inez, born July 19, 1898.
5. Martha Susan, born June 18, 1900.
6. Robert Hendley, born September 14, 1903.

SARAH NEAL GARDNER, oldest daughter of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner, was born in Barnesville, Ga., November 14, 1856; married October 25, 1877, to Samuel Jackson Anderson (no kin) who was born February 8, 1847. Issue eight children:

2. Robert Daniel Anderson, born April 14, 1880.
3. Reuel Lacy Anderson, born March 20, 1882.
4. Charles Beall Anderson, born October 16, 1883.
5. Earl Brown Anderson, born August 8, 1886.
6. Walter Percival Anderson, born June 30, 1888.
7. Frances Susan Anderson, born May 9, 1890; died an infant.
8. Paul Henry Anderson, born May 14, 1892.

WILLIE MYRTLE ANDERSON, their oldest, was born in Giles County, Tenn., October 10, 1878; married January 28, 1900, to Forrest Baker, who was born May 24, 1877. Issue two children:

1. Lois Mae Baker, born November 18, 1900.
2. Virginia Lee Baker, born October 11, 1906.

ROBERT DANIEL ANDERSON, oldest son of S. J. and S. N. Anderson, was born in Tennessee, April 14, 1880; married August 20, 1902, to Nellie Wilkins, who was born March 30, 1883. Issue two children:

1. Emily Delaney Anderson, born August 11, 1903.
2. Robert Doris Anderson, born July 27, 1906.

REUEL LACY ANDERSON, third son of S. J. and S. N. Anderson, was born in Tennessee, March 20, 1882; married April 9, 1906, to Lola Elsina Brown, who was born April 1, 1885.

MAMIE EMILY GARDNER, second daughter of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner, was born in Barnesville, Ga., August 27, 1858; was twice married, first, October 25, 1887, to William Henry Russell, who was born in New York, January 23, 1848. Issue three children:

1. May Beall Russell, born May 7, 1889; died February 2, 1908.
2. Susan Gardner Russell, born October 6, 1891.
3. Anna Myrtle Russell, born October 7, 1894.

After the death of Mr. W. H. Russell, which occurred January 1, 1899, his widow, Mrs. M. E. Russell, married December 31, 1899, to Andrew Marion Gardner, who was born in Tennessee, January 26, 1852. No issue. She died February 7, 1908.

FANNIE BEALL GARDNER, third daughter of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner, was born in Barnesville, Ga., March 27, 1860; married November 19, 1893, to Prof. Thomas Eliah White, who was born March 27, 1861. Issue four children:

1. Thomas Brown White, born October 8, 1895.
2. Robert Gardner White, born January 26, 1897.
3. Camilla Ruth White, born July 24, 1898; died December 25, 1904.
4. Flossie Beall white {sic s/b White}, born February 9, 1900.

DR. ROBERT LEE GARDNER, second son of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner, was born in Barnesville, Ga., April 2, 1862; married in Tennessee, to Eula Belle Johnston, on November 9, 1898. She was born September 28, 1879. Issue one son:

1. Robert Pinkney Gardner, born in Walter, Okla., June 3, 1907.

REV. GEORGE McDOWELL GARDNER, a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Barnesville, Ga., April 20, 1865, was third son of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner; married in Austin, Texas, January 21, 1897, to Lily Kemp, who was born December 6, 1877. Issue five children:

1. Ruby Beall Gardner, born in Austin, Texas, January 24, 1898; died at Aspen Hill, Tenn., December 1, 1904.
2. Sam Brown Gardner, born September 9, 1900.
3. Bessie Bee Gardner, born September 16, 1902.
4. Gladys Gardner, born October 16, 1904.
5. Willis Sterling Gardner, born January 13, 1907; died at Corning, California, August 17, 1907.

CLIFFORD ANDERSON GARDNER, fifth son of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner, was born in Tennessee, July 9, 1869; married in Gonzalis {sic s/b Gonzales} County, Texas, July 31, 1899, to Mary Katherine Fitzsimmons, who died July 31, 1904, leaving two daughters:

1. Willie Kate Gardner, born June 19, 1900.
2. Doris Gardner, born November 1, 1903; died June 1, 1904.

SUSAN ELOISE GARDNER, fourth and youngest daughter of Dr. R. B. and S. B. Gardner, was born in Tennessee, March 19, 1871; married December 24, 1890, to Joseph W. Bishop. She died December 19, 1905, after having born two daughters:

1. Bona A. Bishop, born February, 1892; died January, 1906.
2. Margaret Bishop, born 1895; died 1900.
