Though I have written up this Genealogical History, and have confined myself almost entirely to genealogical lines, I feel that I cannot close without honoring my father, Dr. James Anderson; also his much beloved brother, Thomas Anderson, for they were so much devoted to, and attached to each other; and as I was young when father died, my dear, sweet and best stepmother any one ever had, filled or more than filled, a mother's place, if possible. Yet my fatherless heart went out to my dear uncle and his most noble wife; yes, I loved dear Uncle Thomas and Aunt Anna, and their children loved me as a brother. I want to say right here, the two brothers mentioned above were grand, noble men -- far above many of their fellowmen -- and were influential citizens wherever they lived. Many kindred of whom I might make honorable mention, but I forbear, for my heart is too full; and this is not a biographical history.
