Professor Giles' first marriage, in Hopkins County, Texas, February 6, 1898, to Martha Annie Kincaid, who was born January 1, 1876, and died July 11, 1899, leaving a daughter, Mattie Lou Giles, born February 9, 1899.

Mr. and Mrs. Giles, grandparents of Professor Giles, both born in Troup County, Ga.; he, 1812; she, 1818. They married in 1839. He died 1875; she, 1889.

I. R. W. Lewis and wife, Miss Creel, grandparents of Professor Giles, on his mother's side, was born, he in Georgia, January 2, 1825; she in South Carolina, October 26, 1831. They married 1850, and died, he in St. Clair, Ala., April 25, 1897; she about 1862. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, great-grandparents of Professor Giles, died, he 1827, she 1877. Levi Creel, great-grandfather of Professor Giles, born, reared and married in Barnwell County, S. C. His wife, Miss Sina (Stivender) Creel, also born, reared and married in same county and State. He was born 1804, and died 1864. She was born November 7, 1801, and died about 1893. John Albert Giles and wife, Savannah J. Giles, parents of Professor J. A. Giles, were born in Alabama; he, June 21, 1848; she, November 3, 1853. They were married December 30, 1873.

EMORY THOMAS ANDERSON, fourth and youngest son of Grant J. and Annie E. Anderson, was born in Bell County, Texas, February 22, 1885; married in Lamar County, Texas, January 28, 1906, to Allie Birdie Anderson (no kin), daughter of Rev. Francis Marion Anderson, who was born November 15, 1888. Issue two children:

1. Merle Alethea Anderson, born February 25, 1908.

2. Gwendolyn Juanita Anderson, born March 16, 1909.

DANIEL ANDERSON, second son of Rev. Thomas and Elizabeth (Owen) Anderson, was born in South Carolina, August 19, 1806; married January 10, 1832, to Martha Buford, who was born April 6, 1812. Issue one son:

1. William L. Anderson, born November 10, 1832.

Mr. Daniel Anderson died near Little Rock, Ark., October 25, 1833.

RECORD OF WILLIAM HUGH HARRIS AND MARY (ANDERSON) HARRIS

MARY ANDERSON, second daughter of Rev. Thomas and Elizabeth Anderson, was born in Virginia, May 22, 1808; married April 6, 1826, to William Hugh Harris, of Abbeville District, South Carolina, who was born August 7, 1798.

Mr. Harris died in Fayette County, Alabama, February 15, 1863. His wife died in Monroe County, Arkansas, March 29, 1852. There were born to them six sons, five daughters:

1. Dr. William Thomas Owen Harris, born February 2, 1827.
2. Mildred Jane Elizabeth Harris, born August 28, 1828.
3. Mary Frances Amelia Harris, born October 19, 1830.
4. John David Leslie Harris, born December 30, 1832. He was killed in battle during the Confederate War. Unmarried.

5. James Daniel Anderson Harris, born December 4, 1834; died December 6, 1837.
6. Isabella Ann Letitia Harris, born June 30, 1837.
7. Lemuel Theophilus Theodore Grant Harris, born January 20, 1839.
8. Edward Nathaniel Jourdan Harris, born February 16, 1841.
9. Margaret Agnes Lucretia Angelina Harris, born April 26, 1843.
10. Benjamin Franklin Rush Harris, born May 30, 1845.
11. Maria Priscilla Clementine Davis Harris, born July 17, 1847; died aged 16.

B. F. R. Harris, wounded in battle, sent home discharged and died of wound, 1865.

M. P. C. D. Harris, died of pneumonia, in Fayette County, Ala., December 9, 1862.

DR. WILLIAM THOMAS OWEN HARRIS, oldest son of W. H. and Mary Harris, was born in Abbeville District, South Carolina, February 2, 1827; married in Arkansas, June 15, 1852, to Mrs. Sarah Jane Lemon, nee Hughes, sister of Governor S. B. Hughes, of Little Rock, at whose home she died. No issue.

Dr. Harris was drowned in a bayou, December 11, 1859, in White River Swamp, Ark.

SARAH JANE ELIZABETH HARRIS, oldest daughter of W. H. and Mary Harris, was born in Abbeville District, August 23, 1828; married October 7, 1851, in Columbus, Miss., to John Seals Morris, Sr. Issue nine children:

1. Mary Priscilla Clementine Davis Morris, born July 25, 1852.
2. Benjamin Hugh Morris, born September 8, 1854; died October 13, 1858.
3. James Joseph Morris, born April 7, 1857; died May 29, 1857.
4. Thomas Anderson Morris, born April 7, 1858; died January 7, 1859.
5. Edward Leslie Morris, born February 27, 1860; died 1883; unmarried.
6. John Seals Morris, Jr., born January 26, 1865.
7. Lemuel T. Morris, born January 11, 1867.
8. Margaret A. Morris, born April 28, 1869; died 1876.
9. William Ivey Morris, born April 11, 1871; died 1877.

J. S. Morris, Sr., died at Shepherd, Texas, August 6, 1884. His wife died in Livingston, Texas, May 4, 1889.

MARY PRISCILLA CLEMENTINE DAVIS MORRIS, born in Monroe County, Arkansas, July 25, 1852, now residing in Livingston, Texas. She is oldest daughter of J. S. and M. J. E. Morris.

JOHN SEALS MORRIS, JR., fifth son of J. S. Morris, Sr., was born in Polk County, Texas, January 26, 1865; married July 28, 1888, to Sarah Elizabeth Payne, who was born November 1, 1863. Issue seven children. Now reside in Livingston, Texas.

1. John Henry Morris, born July 5, 1889.
2. James Richerson Morris, born July 12, 1891.

3. Katie Morris, born July 19, 1894.
4. Annie May Morris, born May 6, 1896.
5. Gertie Morris, born February 16, 1898.
6. Ivey Morris, born January 15, 1900.

LEMUEL T. MORRIS, sixth son of J. S. and S. J. E. Morris, was born in Polk County, Texas, January 11, 1867; married on Tarkington Prairie, Liberty County, Texas, March 18, 1891, to Emma E. Tanner, who was born January 20, 1871. Issue six children: This family resides at Oakdale, Texas.

1. Mildred Maria Morris, born September 17, 1892; died September 19, 1899.
2. Verna Morris, born November 26, 1893.
3. Alva Angell Morris, born January 20, 1895.
4. Hardin Tanner Morris, born April 5, 1896.
5. Tensie Morris, born July 31, 1898.
6. Earl Lemuel Morris, born August 21, 1902.

MARY FRANCES AMELIA HARRIS, second daughter of W. H. and Mary Harris, was born in Abbeville District, South Carolina, October 19, 1830; married in Columbus, Mississippi, July 1, 1851, to William Anderson Musgrove. Issue six children. His wife died June 28, 1904. He died in Fayette County, Alabama, April 9, 1902.

1. Virginia Alice Musgrove, born May 11, 1854.
2. Isabella Ann Musgrove, born June 8, 1856.
3. William Bruce Musgrove, born February 14, 1860.

4. Thomas Anderson Musgrove, born July 13, 1862; died July 15, 1862.
5. Emma Tell Musgrove, born July 10, 1866; died March 9, 1896.
6. Mary Genevra Musgrove, born May 28, 1862.

VIRGINIA ALICE MUSGROVE, oldest daughter of W. A. and M. F. A. Musgrove, was born May 11, 1854; married February 5, 1874, to Louis G. Caddle. No issue. She died November 5, 1874.

ISABELLA ANN MUSGROVE, born June 8, 1856. Unmarried. Now residing at Old Homestead, in Fayette County, Ala.; Postoffice {sic}, Winfield, Ala. She is second daughter.

WILLIAM BRUCE MUSGROVE, oldest son of W. A. and M. F. A. Musgrove, was born February 11, 1860; married December 17, 1885, in Fayette County, Ala., to Martha Adeline Webster, who was born in Alabama, December 22, 1866. Issue four children. They reside at Winfield, Alabama.

1. Lena Estelle Musgrove, born December 23, 1886.
2. Ollie Myrtle Musgrove, born July 24, 1893.
3. Esca Lee Musgrove, born September 16, 1895.
4. Fred Musgrove, born February 5, 1897.

MARY GENEVA MUSGROVE, born May 28, 1868; unmarried; now residing with her sister, Isabella Ann, at Old Homestead.

ISABELLA ANN LETITIA HARRIS, third daughter of W. H. and Mary Harris, was born in Marion County, Ala., June 30, 1837; married at Rock Roe, Ark., October 27, 1857, to Charlton Harvey Means. No issue. She died, of abscess on lungs, at Rock Roe, March 4, 1858. He died in Phillips County, Ark., December 9, 1857.

LEMUEL THEOPHILUS THEODORE GRANT HARRIS, fourth son of W. H. and Mary Harris, was born in Marion County, Ala., January 20, 1839. Unmarried. Served as Captain in Eleventh Alabama Regiment. Killed at Petersburg, Va.

EDWARD NATHANIEL JOURDAN HARRIS, fifth son of W. H. and Mary Harris, was born in Marion County, Ala., February 16, 1841. Volunteered in Twenty-sixth Alabama Regiment, was soon found too feeble for duty. Was discharged and sent to his home in Fayette County, Ala., where he died of consumption, September 20, 1862. Unmarried.

MARGARET AGNES LUCRETIA ANGELINA HARRIS, the fourth daughter of W. H. and Mary Harris, was born in Marion County, Ala., April 26, 1843; married in Fayette County, Ala., February 19, 1877, to Terrell Moseley Reese, who was born May 6, 1839. Issue five children. Mr. Reese died in Winfield, Ala., February 8, 1907.

1. Mary Ruthie Reese, born September 12, 1878.
2. Albert Leslie Reese, born January 19, 1881. Unmarried.
3. Lovey Reese, born August 3, 1883.
4. Lucy Reese, born August 3, 1883.
5. Virginia Lee Reese, born April 8, 1885.
