KNOW all Men by thefe Prefents, That we Eli Alexander and Ephraim Alexander

in the ftate aforefaid, are held and firmly bound unto the Governor of the State of North Carolina for the time being, in the juft and full fum of Five Hundred Pounds, current money of this ftate, to be paid to the faid Governor, or his fuccefsors or afsigns: To the which payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourfelves, our Heirs, Executors and Adminiftrators. Sealed with our feals, and dated this 21st day of December Anno Domini 1808

The Condition of the above obligation is fuch, That whereas the above bounded Eli Alexander hath made application for a Licenfe for a Marriage to be celebrated between him and Margaret Alcorn of the county aforefaid:  Now in cafe it fhall not appear hereafter that there is any lawful caufe to obftruct the faid marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwife to remain in full force and virtue.
