Overview of Salmon Cemetery, looking southward -- Oct 2002

Driving Directions:
From New Pattonsburg, go 3 1/2 miles north on St. Hwy 69 until Ashwood Avenue--which lays 3/4 mile north past route "T." (Just beyond the intersection of Hwy 69 and T, you'll see the cemetery out in the field.) Turn left at Ashwood Avenue, and just beyond the house on the corner there's a white rock road that leads to the cemetery.  It's surrounded by a chain link fence, and is in pretty good repair. The cemetery is still used today. Thanks to Carol for additional information on this cemetery.--

Sources & Maps:
(1) In Mary Inglis' Daviess County, Missouri, 1860 Census, SALMONs are enumerated in both Benton and Salem townships.
(2) The 1876 Plat book gives the landowner of the acreage surrounding Salmon Cemetery as W. Salmon. Other SALMON landowners are prevalent in section 36.
(3) History of Daviess County (1985)  p. 52  by The Tree Climbers gives the location of Salmon cemetery and adds: "The SALMON family came to this farm October 1839."
(4) TerraServer hosts a nice aerial photo of the cemetery--a squiggly white line comes down from a horizontal white line connecting to a rectangle.  The rectangle is the cemetery.
(5) The 1998 Plat book
plots the cemetery and calls it "Salmon Cemetery" in the index.
