(1) History of Daviess County (1984) by the Daviess County Historical Society in a submission by The Tree Climbers on page 53 makes mention of Cain Cemetery in a piece on Benton Township Cemeteries: "CAIN CEMETERY north of Savage Cemetery in Section 30. The oldest known stone in this cemetery is Minerva, wife of Poindexter Collins, died April 21, 1856, age 23 years." I believe that this is another name for New Savage because the Tree Climbers make no reference to New Savage Cemetery but do make reference to the nearby Old Savage Cemetery. The fact that this would conflict with item #3 below that if Cain Cemetery equalled New Savage and according to a cemetery map at the DCL that New is south of Old to me is not enough contradictory evidence to make me change my conclusion.
(2) The 1998 Plat Book Plots "Savage Cemetery" in section 30, but make no distinction between New and Old Savage.
(3) The cemetery map at the DCL plots both Old and New Savage Cemeteries with New just south of Old in section 30.
(4) The 1916 Plat Book plots a single cemetery in section 30 on land owned by Mrs. A. J. Savage.
(5) The 1876 Plat Book does not plot a cemetery but does show W. Savage as landowner of the surrounding area.
(6) The 1898 Plat Book plots a single cemetery in section 30 on land which appears to be owned by William M. Williams with a William Savage landowner adjacent.
(7) GNIS lists Savage as one of 15 on its list of Daviess County cemeteries and gives the latitude/longitude found above, but no distinction is made between Old and New Savage.
(8) TerraServer does not distinguish between New and Old Savage nor does it name them, but it does outline the cemetery with cross by side of the road.
(9) The MO General Highway Map (1993) plots a single cemetery in section 30.
