Driving Directions:
-- From Gallatin, go south on St. Hwy 13 about 5 miles to route "M". Turn left (east) and go 2 miles until 265 St, a white gravel road. Turn left (north) on 265 St. and go 1 mile until Unity Av, also a white gravel road. Turn right (east) and go about 3/4 mile to the top of the hill. (If you go too far and continue on the road goes downward and crosses a small creek with a carlength long bridge.)  The cemetery is about 300 feet northeast of an opening on the fence line at the top of the hill with what looks like a old signholder (click here for picture).  Standing from this opening on the fence, you can see off to your right (northeast) a small cluster of trees in which Hemry/Payne Cemetery lies (click here for picture, trees shown in right side of picture are green behind the amber field in the foreground).  For a topographical map marking the location of the cemetery, click here.
Maintenance Info:
-- Based on a September 2004 visit, Hemry/Payne Cemetery has been neglected. All tombstones have been knocked over, some were half-buried, others appear to be missing. Although a significant search has been made for tombstones, someone needs to carefully re-search for more stones, possibly buried. The fence, once placed, has been knocked down about 50% and needs to be restored to help keep  animals out.  There may have once been a sign for the cemetery as evidenced by a signholder, but it needs to be redone. Trotter also needs summer care to keep the weeds down.
