Civil
Bend Christian Church North and South (Marion)
| Name/History |
Named for the Civil Bend Christian
Church which used to be at this location, but no longer
exists. The 1876 & 1898 plat books plot the church on
the south side of the road. Today there is a nice 6-foot
monument which below a large cross reads "Civil Bend
Christian Church Cemetery" on the south side of the
road. This cemetery which is still in use today. The
Civil Bend cemeteries have the most-accessible
transcriptions of any cemetery in the county. |

From Interstate 35, take the DD Hwy or
Civil Bend exit (exit 72). Head southeast (away from the
town of Civil Bend) on DD. If you follow DD for just over
1 mile, you will see the cemetery on both sides of route
"DD"--the north side on your left, the south on
your right. Thanks to contributor Jeff Stith for
assistance with these directions. |
