Sale of Land
Absolom Trailor to Mrs. Mary Richardson
01 December 1819
This day before me James McKee, Notary Public in and for the Parish of St. Helena and State of Louisiana, duly commissioned, personally appeared Chester Eldridge who produced and exhibited to me an instrument of writing requesting the same to admited [sic] of record and which is in the words and figures following, viz:Know all men by these presents, Absolom Trailor, of the Parish of St. Helena, State of Louisiana, of the one part hath this day and year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen, sold a certain piece of land to Mrs. Mary Richardson of the other part, now residing in said Parish and state as above mentioned, for the full sum of twenty dollars in cash paid in hand to said Trailor, said tract of land is lying on the east side of Ponchatoola [sic] river bounded on Richard Wades plantation, the west end of the south line begins at the river bank, the boundary tree is marked and known as the west end of the line, then running east to a certain black stump which is marked and known as the east corner of said tract, then running North to a certain pine tree which is marked and known as the North corner of said lot, then running west to the river as before mentioned, all ground or parcel of land lying in the limits of said boundary, said Trailor doth bind himself to give a warrantee right to said tract or parcel of ground as soon as government gives said Trailor rights in full for the plantation failure in, said Trailor getting or holding her claim, he will bind himself to pay back the purchase money of said tract and make amends as may be deemed satisfactory to the purchaser of said tract...Given under my hand and seal...In presence of testimony, Parish of St. Helena, December first eighteen hundred and nineteen.

This day before me, James McKee, notary public in and for the Parish of St. Helena and State of Louisiana, personally appeared Absolom Trailor who acknowledged the fore going instrument to be his act and deed for the purposes there in mentioned, done at St. Helena this eighteenth day of November eighteen hundred and twenty.

Be it remembered that I carefully compared the foregoing with the original and finding them to agree in all respects, I have returned said original to the party who produced it and have declared the same of record, St. Helena this eighteenth day of November eighteen hundred and twenty.
