Deed: Elisha Belsha to James Phillips

This deed made this nineteenth day of August one thousand eight hundred and seventy three by Ellisha Bellsha and Mary his wife of the County of Perry and State of Missouri, witnesseth that the said Elisha Bellsha and Mary his wife for and in consideration of ninety dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted bargained sold alliened [sic] and conveyed and do by these presents grant bargain sell a certain tract or parcel of land being and situated in the County of Perry and State of Missouri, bounded as follows to wit,

beginning at south west corner of a survey confirmed in the name of Johnathen Preston thence S77º & E20 fore pole chains to a stake, thence S15º& W25 fore pole chains to a stone& W oake [sic], thence N77º& west 9? fore pole chains to a stone on the old line of said survey thence N13 E along the line of said survey 20 fore pole chains to a place of Beginning containing fifty acres and being a part of a tract or parcel of land sold by Johnathan Preston to Wm. Hooks and sold by Wm. Hooks to Elisha Bellsha and by these presents to James Phillips.
To have and to hold the said tract of land to the said James Phillips his heirs and assigns forever, and he the said Elisha Bellsha and Mary his wife for themselves their heirs and assigns the said tract of land to the said James Phillips his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all others claiming under them the said Elisha Bellsha and Mary his wife do warrant and will forever defend.

In testimony whereof the said Elisha Bellsha and Mary his wife hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this Eigth [sic] day of May one thousand eight hundred and twen thre [sic] in the presents of

Be it remembered that on this twenty ninth day of May 1824 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace within & fore said County Elisha Belsha and here acknowledged to have executed & delivery the within deed or instrument of writing for the uses and purposes therein mentioned, also at the same time came Polly Belsha the wife of said Elisha Belsha who having been first made acquainted with the contents of the within deed or instrument of writing and having been examined seperate [sic] and apart from her said husband, she acknowledged & declared that she voluntarily executed and delivered the same without any coersive measures on the part of her said husband.

I further certify that I am well acquainted with said Elisha Belsha & Polly his wife and know them to be the identical persons who executed and delivered the same.
