Bond of Richard Maddock Jr.
Guardian of James Layton, a minor
07 January 1844

Know all men by these Presents that We Richard Maddock, as principal and Richard Maddock, senior and John Logan of the County of Perry and State of Missouri are held and firmly bound to the State of Missouri in the sum of two hundred dollars of lawfull [sic] money for payment whereof well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves our heirs executors & administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals this sixth day of January A.D. 1844.

The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above named Richard Maddock Jr. has been by the County Court appointed Guardian of the person of James Layton, a minor and heir of James Layton, decd. Now if the said Richard Maddock Jr. Guardian as aforesaid shall well and truly execute his duties according to law, secure and improve all such estate or estates of the said James Layton, minor as aforesaid until he arrive at full age, and render true and just accounts of said Guardianship before the County Court of said County and possess the said James Layton of all such estate or estates as might to be in possession by him and the profits arising therefrom Then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
