Last Will and Testament of Jule F. Chappuis

Know all men by these presents, that I, Jules F. Chappuis, being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make and publish this as my last Will and testament.

I first will that all my just debts be paid from the proceeds of my estate,

Second, I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Laura Chappuis, all my property, real, personal and mixed, the real estate consisting of the home stead of 102 acres on which I now live with my family, the intention and my wish and will to give to my beloved wife Laura Chappuis full power an control of my estate, the same power I would have if I were living, to have and hold, manage, sell, dispose of, for and during her natural life, subject to the bequests and provisions hereinafter named.

Third, I will to my daughter Augusta Chappuis, the sum of $200.00 to be paid out of my personal estate within 1 year from the date of the probate of this will.

Fourth, I will to my daughter Flora Chappuis, the sum of $200.00, to be paid out of my personal estate within one year from the date of the probate of this will.

Fifth, I will and request that at anytime either of my daughters above mentioned Augusta Chappuis or Flora Chappuis, by season of sickness, should need help, I direct and will that my hereinafter named executrix, shall make advancements to either of them as the circumstances in her judgment requires for their relief, and take a receipt for such amount; said amount to be deducted on the final distribution of my estate.

Sixth, After the death of my beloved wife Laura Chappuis, I direct that my estate all be converted into cash by sale, and be divided share and share alike among my children: August Chappuis, Flora Chappuis, Willie Chappuis, Clara Chappuis, Mary Chappuis, Cora Chappuis, Julia Chappuis, and Emma Chappuis.

I hereby appoint and designate my beloved wife Laura Chappuis to be Executrix of this my last will and testament, without bond.

In witness whereof, I hereunto set my signature and seal this Sixth day of March 1914.

We each of do hereby certify that we witnessed in the presence of the signer and in the presence of each other, the signature to the last will and testament as above set out, and that the above testator before signing said will, heard its provisions read in our presence, on this sixth day of March 1914.

Proof of Will

In the Probate Court in vacation March 14th 1914.

Be it Remembered, that on this 14th day of March, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Nine Hundred and fourteen before me Judge of probate, and exofficio clerk of the Probate Court, in vacation thereof, held in and for the County of Perry and State of Missouri, personally appeared Peter Hoffman and Wm. A. Sutterer who being duly sworn upon their oaths depose and say that they were present and saw Jules F. Chappuis sign the foregoing instrument of date March 6th 1914, purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of him the said Jules f. Chappuis and heard him publish and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament, and that at the time of signing the same, the said Jules F. Chappuis was of sound and disposing mind, and that these deponents subscribed their names thereto as witnesses to the same in the presence of the testator and of each other, and at the request of the said testator who was more than 21 years of age at the date of so declaring and signing said instrument. And said deponents further state that the said Jules F. Chappuis died on the 10th day of March 1914, at the County and State aforesaid.

Certificate of Probate

In the vacation of the Probate Court this 14th day of March 1914, I, Thomas Hooss, Judge of Probate and exofficio clerk of the Probate Court of Perry County, Missouri, having examined the foregoing instrument purporting to be the last will and Testament of Jules f. Chappuis deceased, and signed by said Jules F. Chappuis deceased, late of Perry County, Missouri, and having heard the testimony of Peter Hoffman and Wm. A. Sutterer subscribing witnesses thereto in relation to the execution of the same, do declare and adjudge said instrument of writing to be the Last Will and Testament of said Jules F. Chappuis deceased, the same is therefore admitted to Probate.

In Testimony, whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and affixed the seal of said Court at office this 14th day of March 1914.
