LOCAL NEWS

THE CUT WORMS are doing considerable mischief in this section.

THE GARDENS hereabouts are looking well, and the late rain has help[ed] vegitation [sic].

DR ST. T. HALL arrived in town on Monday evening, and is ready to attend to cases in his profession.

THE HACK. -- Read the advertisement of Robt. M. Slaughter in another column. The hack runs on time.

MR. JOHN E. TATE, of California is here on a visit to his relatives. He returns home in a few days. His health is bad.

THE PIC NIC. -- Owing to the inclemency of the weather last Saturday the Sunday School pic nic did not take place.

H. G. KIESLER. -- We call the attention of our readers to the advertisement of the dissolution of copartnership of Kiesler & Hooss.

RECEIVE CONFIRMATION. -- On next Sunday a large number of children will be confirmed at the St. Mary’s Seminary by Bishop Ryan.

POTATO BUGS. -- We learn that the potato bugs have already made their appearance in these parts, and are playing havoc with the young potato vines.

MR. PIUS MCCAULEY left Perryville on Sunday for the State of Nebraska, to look at the country, with the intention of locating within its borders.

HERMAN BINC. -- Read this gentleman’s advertisement in another column. He proposes to do his work at the lowest possible figures, and do it as well as it can be done anywhere else.

THE CAMPAIGN OPENED. -- By reference to to-day’s paper, it will be seen that candidates have already commenced announcing their names for county offices. One candidate for Prosecuting Attorney, one for Judge of the Probate and Common Pleas Court, one for Sheriff, three for Collector, two for Assessor, and one for Justice of the Peace for Cinque Hommes Township.
