LOCAL NEWS

THE STE. MARYS HACK HAS AGAIN PUT IN ITS APPEARANCE.

MR. VINCENT TUCKER left for St. Louis on Sunday on business.

RAIN. -- The weather clerk has favored us with rain this week.

MR. VINCENT JARVAUX sold his farm last week to Mr. Ochs for $2,000.

MR. W. P. FAHERTY left for St. Louis on Monday last to purchase goods.

"SLEET" visited these parts on Tuesday night, and it turned quite cold.

ONE of our Perryville Saloons has changed hands. Henry Verscheldon will run it.

THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER is again open, and boats are running,. It is thought navigation will not be interrupted any more this winter.

ROBERT N. DEAN, Sheriff at this county, collected last year 95 1/2 per cent of the revenue of this county. If any other Sheriff in the State can beat that, we would like to know who he is.

THE SENATORIAL ELECTION took place on Thursday of this week. -- George C. Thilenius and William C. Ranney, of Cape Girardeau, are the candidates. In our next issue, we shall probably be able to tell our readers which of the two candidates will represent us in the upper house of the General Assembly.
