Weekly Perryville Union
Perryville, Missouri, Friday, 04 November 1870

LOCAL NEWS

TO OUR READERS, As I became an Editor of the Perryville Union for this political campaign, and it ends with this edition of our paper, I withdraw my name. I do so with some regret, as the paper is and should be one that commands the attention and patronage of every person in the county; but should the cause of Democracy ever need a pen in its behalf, my earnest, best and truest endeavors shall, at any time, and under all circumstances, be given in that behalf.

JOHN H. NICHOLSON.

LOOK OVER YOUR TICKET Look out for your tickets, let no man cheat you when you go to the polls by giving you a bogus ticket. If your ticket is not filled out, fill it out yourself, if you can, before you leave home.

WHAT DID SCHNEIDER do with the Postage Stamps that he received while a member of the Legislature from this county?

SORGHUM MOLASSES. -- Mr. Timothy Brewer presented us with a lot of No. 1 article of sorghum mollasses [sic], which he manufactured this season. It is the nices[t], clearest and best we have got hold of for a long time. Mr. Brewer has our thanks for the nice present.

IS IT TRUE that Schneider, while in the Legislature, voted for the present infamous registration law?

A STRANGER. -- Late on Thursday night a young stranger made his appearance in the family of Mr. John C. Doerr, one of our estimable citizens. -- John has kindly consented to board, cloth[e], and teach the young man, and when he is large enough, run him for Congress.

VOTE FOR WM. P. FAHERTY for County Clerk next Tuesday. Be sure to do this. He is the man for the office and we should elect him. Vote for Wm. P. Faherty.

BERNART VERMAST, the candidate for Justice of the Peace for Cinque Homme Township is an estimable citizen of our town and will make a good justice. He has a good reputation, is a fine scholar, is courteous, and above all has a sound judgment which is a great pre-requisite in one filling the office for which he is a candidate.

BOGUS TICKETS. -- Voters, look out for the bogus ticket with Wm. H. Bennett’s name for the State Senate in it. Mark well, the man who gives it to you. We would also advise every voter to see that his neighbor, and friend has the proper ticket.

C. A. Weber has been in the County Clerk’s office for the last eight years: in that time has he obtained title by prescription?
