Klump Surname

Meaning: the big, coarse, clumsy man; the fat man. Also spelled Klumpp.

Arms of the Grand Duchy of Baden

Klump is the 24,538th most popular surname in the United States. The origin is German. Our immigrant ancestor was Anton Klumpp, who came to America in 1831 with his bride, Theresia Doll. They settled in Perry County, Missouri.

In the earliest records, the "Klumpp" spelling is used, but after a few years in America, the second "p" was dropped, and subsequent generations have used the "Klump" spelling.
