Obituary of Lydia Jane (Totten) Aitkens (1827-1852)

Name of newspaper unknown

Blest spirit! thy work is done; the conflict's o'er; the crown is thine; the record is on high!

Died, at Rural Village, Armstrong co., Pa., on the 8th of March, Mrs. Lydia Jane Aitkins, wife of William Aitkins, M. D., in the 24th year of her age.

By this afflictive providence, her companion in life, with two little motherless ones, is left lonely and sad. But a sacred halo surrounds the memory of her departure. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Mrs. A. had, for near six years been a consistent, worthy member of the Presbyterian Church in Rural Village, and her faith in Christ brightened her departing scene. Death had no terrors for her, because she had "peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

C. F.

In Hamlet Totten's handwriting: "By her Pastor - C. Forbes"

Obituary's Donor:   Estate of Maxine E. Stewart
