AGED LOCAL MAN DIES FOLLOWING LINGERING ILLNESS
Thomas Harper Ambrose, who was born in East Franklin township, Armstrong county, August 27th 1858 died at his home at this place, Monday evening, March 9th, 1925, at 5:20, at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 10 days, following a lingering illness.
In 1874 the deceased with his parents moved to the Neil farm, which is now the location on which the Yatesboro Company store and town is built. In the year 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Olive Blanche Gourley of Rural Valley, to which union two sons were born. His wife preceded him to the grave December 13th 1921.
In the year 1876 Mr. Ambrose united with the Rural Valley Methodist Episcopal church to which he remained a member until the end. He has served the Borough many years in the capacity of councilman as well as having served in many other of the borough offices.
He is survived by the following two sons, Torence B. of Pittsburgh, R. Clyde of Rural Valley with whom he made his home and the following brothers and sisters: Benjamin F. Ambrose of Kittanning; Dr. S. E. Ambrose, G. W. Ambrose and Mrs. G. L. Stewart all of Rural Valley; and James G. Ambrose of New Kensington.
Funeral services were conducted at the late home this (Wednesday) afternoon at two o'clock by his former pastor. Rev. F. R. Peters of Manorville, assisted by Rev. C. M. Sherborne, and Rev. U. S. Bartz of this pace followed by interment in the Rural Valley cemetery.
