Obituary of Joseph Ritner Ambrose (1839-1910)

J. R. Ambrose, whose death was mentioned in our last issue, was born December 18, 1839 and died January 16, 1910. In February of 1858, he was married to Miss Margaret Anna Daugherty, who died December 5, 1897. Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose had seven children, five sons and two daughters. The sons are T. H., B. F., S. E., G. W. and J. G. The daughters were Margaret J., who was married to J. C. Delancy, of Sagamore, and died December 14, 1907 [this date is hand-corrected as Dec. 18, 1906], and Laura K., who is married to Dr. G. L. Stewart of Rural Valley. The sons all have their homes in Rural Valley. Mr. Ambrose held a number of offices, the last being assessor of Rural Valley borough.
