Generation 3. William Totten Meigs Aitkin (abt 1851-?).

William, known by his middle name of Meigs, was the younger of the two sons of Lydia Jane Totten and William Aitkin.

In 1880, William was working as a clerk in a bank in Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa. His wife's name was Isabella, and he had two children, Violetta and Anna. There was probably a son named Meigs Wainwright Aitkin born later.

This photo was heavily damaged; the background is new. It is undated, and the photographer's mark is "J.H. Steffey, Photographer, Mount Union, Ohio." It may have been taken between 1866 and 1870, the years that Meigs's father William Aitkin and his stepmother Rebecca Carruthers lived in Mount Union.
