Generation 2. John Craig Totten (1825-1923).

Son of Mary Craig and Hamlet Totten. Husband of Maggie Rush, father of Nora and Alvin Hamlet Totten.

When he was about 50, John married Maggie Rush, who was twenty-five years younger than he. I have not found evidence of an earlier marriage. In 1884, John (and presumably Maggie) were living in Rural Valley with his father Hamlet, by then widowed for the second time. A letter written by Hamlet at that time says that John was teaching music. In 1891, John and his family were living in Fayette Co., PA.
