The Totten Family - Volume One

tottenhamletbrownjane.jpg, 41 kb

Generation 1. Hamlet Totten (1802-1891) and his second wife, Jane Brown Craig (1808-1883).

Hamlet Totten's first wife, Mary Craig, died in 1866. In 1868, Hamlet married Jane Brown Craig. Jane was the widow of James Craig, Mary's brother. She and James were the parents of six daughters - Margaret, Susan, Martha, Sarah, Mary and Ella. At least two of the daughters - Susan and Martha, who were twins - moved into the house in Rural Valley with their mother.

Hamlet, in his autobiographic sketch, says that Jane "never grew weary in well doing - but was faithful unto death - and we believe - received the crown of life."

This photo is undated and unmarked.
