Generation 2. Dr. William Aitkin (1807-1874) and his second wife, Rebecca Carruthers (abt 1828-?).

William Aitkin's first wife was Lydia Jane Totten (1827-1852), the oldest daughter of Hamlet and Mary Totten. William and Lydia were the parents of John Lysander and William Totten Meigs Aiken. After Lydia died, William married Rebecca Carruthers, and had six more children.

Since Lydia died when she was so young, Rebecca raised her two little boys.

This photo is undated; it is marked "Edna Packer, Photographist, Park Street, Alliance, Ohio." William, Rebecca and their family lived in Ohio between 1866 and 1870.
