Generation 2. Nancy Caroline Stewart (1845-1916)
Nancy was a daughter of George and Isabella (Cassidy) Stewart. A high fever she contracted as a small child left her deaf, and she never learned to speak. The family communicated with her by sign language. She lived with her mother, then later with her sister Mary, her brother John, and her nephew George. When she lived with her nephew George and his wife Laura, she made beautiful quilts for their three children.
This tintype is undated.
