Generation 1. Mary Deborah Cooper (1836-1915), daughter of Samuel Cooper and Mary Walton, wife of Joseph James (J.J.) Custead.

After her parents died, Mary Deborah and her siblings sold the farm. They were all young; only Flavious Josephus was legally an adult. Mary Deborah was 17 and had married Joseph James Custead, but she was still a minor so the court named her husband as her legal guardian so the land sale could be completed.
