Generation 3. Mabel Craig (Stewart) Snyder (1905-1983).

Daughter of George Leon and Laura (Ambrose) Stewart; granddaughter of Joseph Ritner and Margaret (Dougherty) Ambrose. This undated picture has no photographer's mark.

Mabel was born at the family residence, 817 Main Street, in Rural Valley. After attending elementary and high school in Rural Valley, she obtained her teaching certificate at the school that is now Carnegie-Mellon. She married J. Kirtland "Sam" Snyder in the 1930's.

Mabel taught home economics for most of her long career, and added classes in English in the last few years. Most of her career was spent at Shannock Valley High School in Rural Valley. After retirement Mabel continued her hobby of cooking. She died of a stroke in 1983. She and her husband Sam are buried in the Rural Valley Cemetery.
