Liz Eshmade, a genealogist in Port Elizabeth looking for Sarah's grave in Grahamstown has been unable to find a burial for Sarah or her husband Charles Gurney. However the Gurneys were Methodist and she could have been buried in the Russell Road Cemetery. This cemetery much diminished, with more stones disappearing every time it is cleaned up. It is likely that she did not have a gravestone as money was very short at that time.'
It would be terrific to find a portrait of her but we hold out little hope.
It is just possible that a wedding photograph may exist somewhere.
